Call For Help

Good afternoon,

Again,

As most of you will know now, we're having our art attack week next week. I've had an urgent call from Mrs Welsh (Room 9) who is hosting Room 2 first up on Monday for some parent help. She's got lots of cutting of material to do (something about puppets), and would really really appreciate some assistance with our young 'uns.

Any help would be gratefully received - please just turn up, either at Room 2 or straight to Room 9, on Monday morning.

Thanks,

Mr Grant

Thursday's Theology

Good afternoon,

This afternoon we continued our identification of Holly Objects.

We concluded that...

Our afternoon then finished with a quick review about what to do if we feel jelous...

...and an activity that aided us in remembering what we are good at.

Speaking of PDF files, here are the narratives that the children have been working on over the last week or so.

Room 2 Writers' Narratives

And so onto the end of the week. Already.

Welcome Wednesday

Good afternoon,

It's nice to see that folks feel welcome in Room 2 each morning!

(No really, I think it's great! Indicative of a whole classroom community kind of thing going on. Very cool...)

Speaking of all getting along together, I took these shots during reading, while I was working with Blue Group on the mat.

This afternoon we discussed what to do if we (or someone we know) feels jealous when they think things aren't fair.

Sunny Tuesday

Good afternoon,

It's been lovely to see the sun over the last couple of days. We were able to go out, admire Mrs Campbell's new hair do...

...do some P.E. with Room 12 (Athletics training. Many thanks to Mrs Restieaux.)...

...and towards the end of the day there was some pondering as to where Mrs Oorshot's violin bow strings came from.

In the end, we thought it far more likely from a horse than from a boy!

And a good time was had by all.

Fair Play Monday

Good afternoon,

And a lovely afternoon it is too. So we went outside to learn what was fair, and what's not in terms of a game of tag. Sometimes one team had to stay on their bottoms, sometimes one was allowed to run, the other walk, sometimes the played by the same rules.

We went back to discuss what makes a fair game...

...which in turn became a quick discussion about Jose.

And a good thinking was had by all!

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Friday Fun Day

Good afternoon,

Another fun Friday was had here. Being Friday 'n all.

Bit of this...

...a bit of that...

...and a spot of painting.

The idea is to produce a heap of paper with interesting colours, textures and brush strokes with which to make a collage of the Cicada and the Ant.

And a good time was had by all. 'Cept for Miss Fitzsimmons, who cleaned up while I swanned away on duty at lunch time.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Grant

Move it and Shake it Thursday

Good evening,

This morning kicked off with a bit of Axel-F, Crazy Frog style.

And we all know which movie Axel-F came from, right?

Then, after a Church Post Test (the children seem to have done really well), we jumped into our new topic - On A Level Playing Field.

I showed the children these two images...

...we discussed them, then I had them act out what happened next.

And then we ran out of time!

CU in the morning,

New Maths Books Please

Good morning,

This is a notice for Room 2 Maths Children.

(It may well also apply to the other maths interchange classes, but chances are, their teachers are far more on the ball with letting you know when your children need stuff...)

The industrious wee things have all run out of pages and most are now using the back of previous worksheets to complete their follow up activities!

They need a 1A5 unruled (that is, blank) exercise book as soon as possible please.

Thanks, and sorry for the delay in getting this message out,

Mr Grant

I'm Back Wednesday!

Good afternoon,

It's good to be back. You've got a nice bunch of children!

This morning I thought I'd try something a little different for writing. I paired the children up, they discussed...

...then, in those pairs started to write a narrative together.

I was watching a clip of a presentation of an education statistician who has measured what has the best effect on increasing children's achievement, and one of them is - they learn a heap of stuff off each other. So we'll see how that goes...

Actually, talking of cooperating, here's a great example of it I captured this morning during reading.

Then off to fitness.

The children do seem to enjoy Crazy Frog!

Right, that's about it for the time being.

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant
